Watched a couple of whitetail deer crossing the Hudson River just north of the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in the early morning mist. They were headed toward Thompson's Island. I was sitting in my kayak just soft paddling under the bridge south to VanNorden's Bay 5 miles away. I can feel nothing but the emptiness of the sky above me and the power of the river beneath my keel. Someone is calling from a passing canoe. I see a wave of a hand. I waved back. I rolled over. drenching myself totally. I would NOT recommend doing this too often in the Hudson River. PC-B's are still active here. I forgot 'cause I love to roll my kayak. Oh, well, we all have to die sometime. I just got my lethal dose!!! :(
